Singer Rose Mallett will once again present her one-woman tribute to Sarah Vaughan, “Songs of Sarah” with musical director David Ring as part of the Cabaret On Sundays Series presented by Les Michaels at the Arthur Newman Theater. l Rose Mallett has an extensive background in music and has performed throughout the US. Now residing in the Palm Springs area, she performs weekly at Purple Room, Vicky’s Of Santa Fe, and Woody’s. In addition to club work, Ms. Mallett is a big supporter of the community, and regularly appears as special guest entertainer at benefits and charity events. Rose Mallett debuted “Songs Of Sarah” at Arthur Newman Theater in 2018 and received five Desert Theatre League Award nominations and took home four awards for; best leading actress, best original script, best director, and best musical director. With an original book by Ken Steele, the show highlights the life and career of International singer, Sarah Vaughan, whose list of recordings is extensive and include; “Black Coffee”, “Lullaby Of Birdland”, “Send In The Clowns”, “Someone To Watch Over Me”, “September Song”, and “’Round Midnight”, to name just a few. Sarah died in 1990, having won four Grammy Awards and a Lifetime Achievement Award, and a Jazz Master’s Award from The National Endowment For The Arts.
