Name: Free Skin Cancer Screening
Date: May 12, 2018
Event Description:
May is national Skin Cancer Awareness Month and the Melanoma Awareness Project of the Desert (MAP) and Contour Dermatology are hosting a free skin cancer screening on Saturday, May 12 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Contour Dermatology’s La Quinta office located at 46-080 Jefferson Street.
Skin cancer is one of the most common medical dermatology concerns the practice sees. Over the past year, physicians and nurse practitioners from Contour Dermatology diagnosed more than 2,000 skin cancers including about 100 cases of malignant melanoma. Other more common types of skin cancer include squamous cell carcinoma and basal cell carcinoma.
Medical providers from Contour Dermatology & Cosmetic Surgery Center will be performing free skin examinations in approximate 15-minute intervals. This screening is open to anyone including children who attend with a parent. The rate of melanoma has increased among teens and young adults by more than 250% over the past four decades. People without insurance are especially encouraged to attend to take advantage of this community service.
The screening is by appointment only and there are a limited number of appointments available this day. To schedule a free skin cancer screening on May 12, please call (760) 423-4000.
