Each autumn the Coachella Valley welcomes back human residents who spend their summers in cooler climates. We nickname these people “snowbirds.” However, humans are not the first species to model this behavior. There are actually dozens of real birds who do the same thing - spend the summer in the cool north and the winter in the warm south! Come and learn about the original, feathered “snowbirds” of the Coachella Valley and Salton Sea area. Join us after the presentation for a short walk on the Ed Hastey Trail to meet some of these part-time residents for yourself. Bring binoculars if you have them. Families are welcome. Bring your picnic lunch to enjoy on the Visitor Center’s shaded patio afterwards.
Meet at the Cahuilla Theater inside the Visitor Center. Registration is 9:45 AM. Your tax deductible donations are encouraged to support the Monument.
